They shared their ideas how to make Cox’s Bazar truly a world class tourism destination with modern facilities, noting that tourists may not come here only to see the beach but may want to do more things.
The speakers sought proper planning and required roles from the policymakers to popularise other tourism destinations in Bangladesh.
Novoair hosted the discussion titled ‘Air Connectivity to Enhance Tourism’ at a city hotel. Members of Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), who are representing different media outlets - newspapers, news agencies, television channels and online media, participated in the programme.
Managing Director of Novoair Mofizur Rahman, its Head of Marketing and Sales Mesbah-ul-Islam, ATJFB leaders Nadira Kiron and Tanzim Anwar, among others, spoke.
"Air connectivity has played an important role in keeping vibrant tourism activities in Cox's Bazar round the year," said Rahman, adding that tourism season is not just confined from November to February.
He said air connectivity is a must to make each attractive place in Bangladesh popular among local and foreign tourists.
The Novoair MD also highlighted how the tourism sector is playing a big role in creating jobs. He also pledged to enhance air connectivity with increased frequency once they get fair support from the government and mentioned that other facilities will have to be in place too to take forward the tourism industry.
Novoair, one of the private airlines of the country, steps into eighth year. It started its operations between Dhaka and Chattogram in January 2013. It operated more than 61,000 flights and carried over 3.3 million passengers until 2019.
After the discussion, Mofizur Rahman and ATJFB members cut a cake as part of the ongoing celebrations.
Earlier, Novoair took 20 children of different ages to Cox's Bazar on Tuesday fulfilling the dream of underprivileged children by offering a free air travel. The children spent a delightful time at Cox's Bazaar, the world's longest beach, and the radiant fish world.
Rahman said they took such initiatives as part of their social responsibility.
"Children are the future of the nation. This is our small initiative to entertain them. As part of Novoair social responsibility, we distribute free medicines to destitute people, also we sponsor sports and various events on regular basis," he said.
Novoair operates daily flights from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Saidpur, Jashore, Sylhet, Barishal, Rajshahi and Kolkata.
