In a significant effort to strengthen regional communication and cultural ties, around 19 journalists from the CIPCC-Asia Pacific group visited the CICG Asia-Pacific office on Wednesday.

The exchange aimed to foster deeper understanding and collaboration among media professionals within the Asia-Pacific region.

The CICG Asia-Pacific, a prominent media platform oriented towards the region with a strong focus on China, serves as a vital bridge connecting regional audiences with Chinese policies, culture, and information through multilingual and multimedia content.

During the visit, journalists engaged in lively discussions, sharing views on regional developments, media collaboration, and the role of information services in promoting cultural understanding.

The exchange underscores CICG Asia-Pacific’s commitment to building a leading platform for international communication, connecting hearts and minds, and enhancing regional dialogue.

This visit marks another step forward in strengthening media cooperation and promoting cross-cultural exchanges in the Asia-Pacific, reinforcing the importance of regional partnerships in an increasingly interconnected world.

Zhao Jun, Editor-in-Chief of CICG Asia-Pacific, said the mission of CICG Asia-Pacific is to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation across the Asia-Pacific.

She explained that the main mission of CICG is to publish books and facilitate media communication. Over the past seven decades, the organization has continuously expanded its horizons.

She mentioned that CICG manages seven publishing accounts, with China Foreign Languages Press responsible for the publication of its books.

Besides, CICG’s activities include media conventions and communication efforts, represented by the China International Information Center.

The organization also collaborates with four regional communication centers to promote media cooperation. These regional centers include Center for America, Center for Europe and Asia, Center for Europe and Africa, and Center for Asia-Pacific.

"Our organization hosts over 100 activities annually worldwide to promote people-to-people communication," she added.

"The next aspect of our work focuses on industrial cooperation. We aim to integrate resources from government departments, think tanks, colleges and universities, and international organizations to organize activities that emphasize people-to-people exchanges," she further added.

She also emphasized the importance of the Global South for global development.

Zhao Jun expressed her optimism about working together to create positive impacts on world development and promote friendship.

Zhang Jianbo, Director of the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), highlighted the center’s extensive and collaborative relationships with regional communication entities, including the China International Communications Group (CICG) and CICG-Asia Pacific.

He said that CIPCC has been actively engaged in fostering communication and cooperation with countries from the Global South. Established in 2014, the center has hosted more than 764 foreign journalists visiting China up to the end of 2024.

Jianbo explained that the center's programs typically consist of two projects, each lasting four months.

In the first half of 2025 alone, CIPCC has invited 119 foreign journalists from 101 countries to visit China. Looking ahead, he noted that in early September, the center plans to host over 120 international media professionals for a visit.

Beyond these long-term initiatives, CIPCC also organizes short-term activities aimed at promoting mutual understanding and communication.

These programs, lasting two to three weeks, facilitate closer ties between Chinese media and international journalists. In the first half of this year, over 30 journalists from countries in the Global South participated in such activities.

Jianbo said that the overarching goal of CIPCC’s projects is to strengthen cooperation among media organizations and enhance communication capabilities with developing nations and countries in the Global South.

He also mentioned that CIPCC oversees six regional communication centers, further supporting its mission of fostering international media exchanges.
