A massive fire swept through a residential area in southern Norway, destroying more than 100 homes and forcing hundreds of people to evacuate, police and the country's public broadcaster said.
The fire broke out in a townhouse in the city of Drammen at around 3:30 pm on Friday, police said. It quickly spread to nearby homes before reaching surrounding forested areas. Firefighters were still working on Saturday morning to contain the blaze.
Norway's public broadcaster NRK reported that hundreds of evacuees were taken to an emergency evacuation center.
Police said no residents have been reported missing. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Drammen is located about 34 kilometers (21 miles) southwest of the Norwegian capital, Oslo.
