A truck mounted power sprayer will be provided by SDMC to spray anti-mosquito insecticides along the track especially near residential areas and on water collection points. It moves at a speed of 20 kmph covering a distance of about 150 km in each cycle. The train passes through Sarai Rohilla, Delhi Cantonment, Palam, Kishanganj, Lajpat Nagar, Tilak Bridge, Adarsh Nagar, Sabzi Mandi, Narela, Shahdara and Gurgaon.
RN Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Delhi, Commissioner/ SDMC and Senior Railway officials will be present for the flagging-off. In all, 10 runs will be conducted in 10 days by the train. In addition to water bodies, the train sprays the insecticide over depressions created on both sides of railway tracks, where chances of mosquito breeding remain high after rains. The drive has been going on for years as a precautionary measure to minimise mosquito breeding alongside railway tracks in Delhi area.
