At least twelve students of Lahalamari Government Primary School fell ill with stomach pain and vomiting after eating the meal provided under the school feeding programme in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Wednesday.
However, the local administration has formed a six-member committee to investigate the incident, said Saiful Islam, District Primary Education Officer, on Thursday.
The committee is investigating the quality of the food and the actual cause of the students falling sick, he said.
Earlier, twelve students of the school fell ill after eating the meal of school feeding food. As their condition deteriorated, teachers rescued them and took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
After receiving necessary treatment, all the students recovered and returned home the same day.
Following the incident, a six-member committee, headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner was formed.
Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer, District Primary Education Officer, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Safe Food officer and District Sanitary Inspector were included as other members of the committee.
The committee has been asked to assess the quality of the food supplied under the school feeding programme, determine the actual cause of the students falling sick, identify the person or organisation responsible and submit a comprehensive report within three working days.
