A total of 15 officials and personnel from the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Directorate have successfully completed a 4-day long Swift Water Rescue Training course, ended in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday
Organised by the US Embassy in Dhaka, the specialised training, which wss started on Sunday last week, focused on equipping participants with the skills needed to rescue people during tidal surges, flash floods, and other water-related emergencies, says Station Officer Talha Bin Jashim of the FSCD headquarters media cell in Dhaka.
Various practical sessions of the training were conducted at the Inani Beach and other coastal locations in Cox’s Bazar, along with controlled environments such as swimming pools, he added.

Since 2021, nearly 280 members of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence have received training under different modules facilitated by the U.S. Army, including the Medical First Responder Course and High Angle Rescue Course.
Officials said the training is part of ongoing efforts to enhance Bangladesh’s disaster response capabilities, particularly in the context of increasingly frequent climate-induced emergencies.
