Barishal, Oct 20 (UNB) – Two policemen of Mehendiganj Police Station were withdrawn on Saturday night for releasing 10 detained fishermen after taking bribe.
Abidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mehendiganj Police Station, said assistant sub-inspector Delwar Hossain and constable Sumon Sikdar were attached to the District Police Lines.
On Friday, a police team, led by Delwar, conducted a drive in the Lalkharabad River in Mehendiganj upazila and arrested 10 fishermen for fishing defying a government ban.
However, two local traders got them released in exchange for money.
