Two children suffered injuries on Sunday as a bomb they picked up mistaking it for a ball exploded at Sharsha upazila in Jashore.
The injured are Shihab Hasan,7, son of Sumon Hossain and Habibur Rahman, 8, son of Hasan from Panch Kayba village in Kayba union of the upazila.
They are both currently admitted at a clinic in Baghanchra.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm in a mango orchard at the village.
Shihab’s father Sumon said the children were playing when they found a round shaped thing wrapped with red scotch tape inside a bag.
“They thought it was a ball and as they tried to remove the tape, it exploded leaving Habibur with serious injury,” said Sumon Hossain.
Mamun Khan, officer-in-Charge of Sharsha police station said both the children were taken to hospital immediately after being rescued and they are out of danger at the moment.
However, it could not be identified yet who kept the bomb there, said the OC.
