2 Khulna University students held for ‘links with Neo JMB’

Police arrested two students of Khulna University for their alleged ties to banned militant group ‘Neo JMB’ from Gollamari Khurshednagar in the city here early Saturday.
Bomb making materials were also recovered from their possession.
The arrestees are — Nur Mohammad Anik, 24, and Md Mujahidul Islam Rafi, 23. They have since been produced in court, taken into remand for 10 days.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP)Sheikh Moniruzzaman Mithu, said based on secret information, a special team led by KMP Commissioner Khandker Lutful Kabir conducted raid at a flat in Gollamari Khurshednagar area at around 2:30am, that continued till 5:30 am.
During the drive, the elite force arrested the duo and recovered a huge quantity of explosive substances from their possession.
Police said during interrogation, they confessed that they were directly involved in the bomb explosion at the Krishak League Office under Khanjahan Ali police station last September, and also the one in a garage for vehicles of Arongghata police station last December.
