A total of 269 US citizens along with seven dogs left Dhaka for their country on Monday evening.
A special flight of Qatar Airways carrying them took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:05pm, said airport Security Director Group Capt AHM Towhid-Ul Ahsan.
Earlier in the day, US Ambassador to Bangladesh visited the airport to monitor the overall situation.
Bangladesh reported another COVID-19 case on Monday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 49.
Of them, five have died and 19 made recovery. Currently, 25 patients are under treatment.
Meanwhile, the US now has more than 140,000 confirmed cases. As of Sunday evening, 2,493 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the country, according to Johns Hopkins University.
