Three people were killed Saturday in separate road accidents in Chandpur and Jashore.
In Chandpur, two young men were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle on the Wapda Road in Faridganj.
The victims, identified as Iqbal Khan (19) and Shahadat Hossain (19), were both residents of the same area. Iqbal, a student at Mulpara Technical College, was the second son of Khaze Ahmad Khan, while Shahadat was the son of Obayedul Haque Majumder.
According to their relatives, Iqbal and Shahadat were riding a motorcycle from Ekta Bazar towards Munshirhat, when it collided with a CNG autorickshaw going the opposite way. Both youths suffered severe injuries. Local residents rushed them to Chandpur General Hospital, but Iqbal was declared dead on arrival. Shahadat, in critical condition, was referred to Dhaka Medical College but died en route.
Dr. AKM Mahbubur Rahman, the superintendent of the hospital, confirmed the deaths, while Sagir Mia, the duty officer at Faridganj Police Station, also verified the incident.
In Jashore, another road accident claimed the life of one person and left 10 others injured when a SP Golden Line Bus crashed into a tree in Jhikargachha.
The deceased, identified as Bulu Mia (50), a resident of the Gazi Dargah area, was crushed under the bus.
Bablur Rahman Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Jhikargachha Police Station, confirmed the death.
