More than 15 villages in the Sadar upazila, Char Bhadrasaon and Sadarpur upazila have gone under water in the last few days.
Faridpur Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said cropland in five upazilas was damaged. Of them, 181 hectares contained black gram, 45 hectares Ropa Aman and 47 hectares vegetable.
Sultan Mahmud, executive engineer of Faridpur Water Development Board, said the sudden rise of water level flooded the low-lying areas.

Erosion in Alfadanga and Boalmari; Empidangi of Char Bhadrason; and Charmanai intensified in recent days. Madhumati, Padma and Arial Kha rivers wind through the areas respectively.
“Strong current is making it difficult to prevent erosion at the moment,” said Mahmud.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar said the administration has already distributed 155 tonnes of rice, dry food and cash Tk 1.2 lakh among the victims in six upazilas.
Besides, the administration has taken steps to place geobags in the erosion-hit areas.
