A 38-year-old man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute in Magura’s Sadar upazila on Thursday.
The deceased, Jahid Biswas, was a resident of Benga village.
Sheikh Mehedi Russel, officer-in-charge of Magura Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter.
There had been a long-standing dispute between two village leaders, Anarul and Ashraf, over a piece of land, said the OC
According to locals, the conflict escalated on Thursday morning when Anarul began filling the disputed land. Ashraf’s son, Mehedi, attempted to stop him, leading to a violent confrontation. Anarul and his associates attacked Mehedi, Jahid, and several others.
Jahid was initially admitted to Magura 250-bed District Hospital. Later, he passed away in an ambulance while being transported to Dhaka for better treatment in the evening.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident, added the OC.
