Four people were killed and six others injured when a truck hit an auto-rickshaw on Burimari-Lalmonirhat highway in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nur Amin, Fatul Mia, Saiful Islam and Mostakin of Patgram upazila.
The accident occurred around 8:30am in the Ghunti area when the Burimari land port–bound truck reportedly suffered a mechanical failure and hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving two killed on the spot and eight others injures, said Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patgram Police Station.
Members of the Patgram Fire Service and local residents rescued the injured and took them to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where another victim died during treatment.
Five of the critically injured were later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment where another victim died later.
