At least eight people were killed and several injured in separate clashes between Ansar men, BGB and protesters in Gazipur's Kaliakair and Sreepur areas on Monday.
In Kaliakair, some agitated people attacked Safipur Ansar VDP Academy of Kaliakair Upazila and carried out massove vandalism.
At that time, Ansar members fired gunshots at people who attacked the Ansar Academy, leaving two people dead and many more injured.
Witnesses said an angry mob attacked the Ansar VDP Academy in Safipur of Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila, vandalising two main gates and the entrance. In response, Ansar members fired for self-defense, resulting in at least two deaths.
Dr Saddam Hossain of Safipur Modern Hospital said two people were brought dead at the hospital.
Two others are in critical condition and have been transferred to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, he added.
Among the deceased, one was identified as of Rakhaliachala area of the upazila. The identity of the other victim aged around 40 could not be known.
In another incident, six people were shot dead and more than 50 people suffered injuries when BGB members opened fire in the morning in the Sreepur area.
Of the deceased, four were identified as Sifatullah, 22, Sharif Ahmed, 20, Kawsar, 28 and Jewel Mridha, 30.
Some injured are Azahar, 30, Farooq, 26, Maruf, 19, Idris, 30, Riaz, 24, Swapan, 35, Babul, 21, Zakir, 52, Shamim, 30 and Raihan, 28.
Md Obaidullah, manager of Alhera Medical Center in Mawna Chowrasta, said that the bodies of five people were brought to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
Besides, 22 injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with first aid.
Dr. Zarin Fara, doctor of the emergency department of Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, said that the four injured people came to the hospital and received treatment.
However, in this regard, Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akbar Ali Khan and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shobhan Rangsar did not respond to their phone calls.
