Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has imposed fines of Tk 4 lakh as it found dengue vector Aedes mosquito larvae at two under-construction buildings.
DNCC Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan imposed Tk2 lakh each fine during a drive on Mark Builders and Maisha Construction after Aedes larvae were found in two under construction buildings of DNCC's Cleaners Rural Housing on Gabtoli Embankment Road on Saturday afternoon, according to a press release.

He also imposed a fine of Tk 2 lakh on the construction contractor Banga Builders in a case filed in a mobile court after Aedes larvae were found in the building under construction for the accommodation of government employees on Darus Salam Road under Mirpur Model Police Station, it said.

On the seventh day of the DNCC's month-long special mosquito eradication drive, a total of Tk 9.85 lakh was collected in 14 cases after finding Aedes larvae.

Ten teams comprising senior officials from all departments have been formed to oversee the month-long special mosquito eradication drive. The teams are monitoring the ongoing operation every day, according to the release.
