Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku on Thursday said all farmers in the country will be brought under the farmers card programme.
“The government’s broader goal is to increase productivity by modernising poultry and livestock farms,” he said, adding that various plans have been taken to enhance the capacity of duck breeding farms.
The state minister made the remarks while briefing journalists after visiting the Daulatpur Regional Duck Breeding Farm in Khulna in the afternoon.
He said increasing the number of farms at the grassroots level would create employment opportunities and contribute to achieving economic self-reliance.
If young people can be turned into agriculture and farm-based entrepreneurs, it will help reduce unemployment and further strengthen food security, he said.
The state minister urged the concerned authorities to encourage young entrepreneurs to engage in farming.
Bangladesh National Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Hoore Jannat, Regional Duck Breeding Farm Deputy Director Md Rafiqul Islam and officials of the concerned departments were present.
