A 26-feet high sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be erected at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Wednesday.
The minister came up with the announcement while he was talking to journalists after visiting MV Ikram Ship in Narayanganj.
“Bangladesh has many sculptures related to the Liberation War and Bangabandhu at many places which is part of our tradition,” he said.
“No obstruction will stop erecting Bangabandhu’s sculpture. The present government is a capable one”, the minister said.
Besides, MV Ikram Ship will be turned into an international standard museum, Haque said adding that a technical team is being formed to select a place and prepare a design.
The government will preserve each memory related to the Liberation War, he said.
