Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Sunday released the holiday list of 2023 for the scheduled banks in the country in line with the holiday list published by the Public Administration Ministry.

Md. Abdul Mannan, director of the department of Off-site Supervision of BB, issued the holiday list and sent it to the managing director and chief executive officers of scheduled banks.

According to the instructions, banks will enjoy a total of 24 holidays in 2023 including bank holidays on July 1 and December 31.

Among the holidays, 4 are Fridays and 3 Saturdays which are usually included in the weekly holidays in Bangladesh.

According to the Central Bank circular, the list of holidays in 2023 includes- February 21 Martyr's Day, March 8 Shab-e-Barat, March 17 birthday Father of the nation and Children's Day, March 26 Independence and National Day, April 14 Bengali New Year, April 19 Shab –e-Qadar, April 21 Jumuatul Bida, April 21-23 Eid-ul-Fitr, May 1 May Day, May 4 Buddha Purnima, June 28-30 Eid-ul-Azha, July 1 Bank Holiday, July 29 Holy Ashura, August 15 National Day of Mourning, September 6 Janmashtami, 28 September Eid Miladunnabi, October 24 Durga Puja (Vijay Dashami), December 16 Victory Day, December 25 Jesus Christ's Birthday, December 31 Bank Holiday.
