Dhaka, Mar 5 (UNB) – Bangladesh Bank is set to launch a new Tk 100 bank note with improved security features on March 7.
In a statement, the bank said the new note will be made of 100 percent coated cotton paper that has high longevity. It has been designed to improve the existing security features.
The 140 mm x 62 mm note, containing BB Governor Fazle Kabir’s signature, will be issued from the bank’s Motijheel office. It will be later made available at the bank’s other offices across the country.
However, the design and colours of existing Tk 100 note will remain unchanged. Both sides of the new note have been overlaid with varnish which will make it glossy when felt, the statement said.
The new note will get relatively less dirty and be hard to write on it. The existing Tk 100 notes will also remain in operation, the bank said.
