BGMEA President Faruque Hassan has requested all the owners, employees, workers of garment factories and their family members to clean their factories and households regularly to prevent the spread of Dengue and Chikungunya.
“Dengue is transmitted by Aedes mosquito which can easily breed in stagnant water. So pay attention to the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitos as they will not able to breed if water does not get stagnant,” he said while addressing the employees and workers of Uni Garments Ltd in Chittagong on Wednesday as a part of BGMEA initiative to raise mass awareness among people including garment workers.

The BGMEA President also handed out Dengue prevention leaflets among the garment employees and workers.
Speaking at the program BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam said the Dengue outbreak can be prevented by taking precautionary measures properly and all people need to come forward and exercise their respective responsibility.
Later, the BGMEA leaders took part in a tree plantation program to observe the National Mourning Day and to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to those who were martyred on August 15.
Earlier, BGMEA circulated ten-point guidelines among all the member factories to follow to prevent the spread of Dengue and Chikungunya.
BGMEA Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Directors Abdullah Hil Rakib, Haroon Ar Rashid, Navidul Huq, Md. Imranur Rahman, Tanvir Habib, A.M. Shafiul Karim (Khokon), Md. Hassan (Jacky), M. Ahsanul Hoq, former Director and Chairman of BGMEA Standing Committee on Customs (Sea) Anjan Shekhar Das, and Managing Director of Uni Garments Ltd Mostafa Sarwar Riyadh were also present at the program.
