Bangladeshi Journalists in International Media-BJIM has called on authorities to protect journalists Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa, ensuring their right to a fair trial and safeguarding them against any form of judicial or police harassment as a result of their reporting.
"We urge the interim government to affirm its commitment to press freedom, ensuring that all journalists and media outlets can operate without fear of retribution or targeted campaigns stemming from their journalistic pursuits," they said in a statement on Thursday.
The organisation said it is imperative that no journalist faces persecution for fulfilling their past or present professional duties.
