A boat carrying 187 maunds of paddy sank in Khewarchar Jinjiram River in Jadurchar area of Rowmari upazila of Kurigram district on Monday.
Fortunately, all six people on board managed to escape safely.

Affected paddy trader Nur Islam, said he bought 187 maunds of paddy worth Tk 4 lakh from Algarchar village in the upazila and hired a boat to send the paddy to Sayedabad ghat.
At 5:30pm, the boat sank in the river after being hit by a pillar of Rubber Drum Bridge.

One shallow machine also sank with the boat.
The locals managed to salvage four maunds of paddy from the river.

Nahid Hasan Khan, Rowmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), said that he has heard about the loss.
