Salt Industry Development office at Cox’s Bazar BSCIC sent letters to the local banks, said a press release.
Sonali Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Agrani Bank, Janata Bank, Rupali Bank, BASIC Bank and Karmasangsthan Bank in Cox’s Bazar have been urged to issue loans for salt farmers.

Muhammad Hafizur Rahman, deputy general manager, Salt Industry Development office, said over 28,791 farmers are farming salt on 57,722 hectares in this area.
Salt farmers have been continuing supply during the coronavirus pandemic, he said adding that farmers are not getting proper price.

He urged the authorities concerned to save salt farmers to save this industry.
