Miscreants set fire to a bus at Kumargaon in Sylhet city on Saturday ahead of the 48-hour blockade that BNP and like-minded parties called.
The bus was set on fire in front of the gas office near Kumargaon bus stand around 7:00 pm on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, shortly before 7:00 pm, two men came by a motorcycle and broke the glass of the bus. Then they set fire to it inside. Many seats on the bus were burned. Locals rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Police later arrived at the scene.
The bus parked on the side of the road is used to transport students of the Jalalabad Cantonment Public School and College.

Abul Kashem, owner of the burnt bus and general secretary of the Sylhet Sunamganj Bus Owners Association, said, "My bus has suffered a loss of about Tk 60,000–70,000 in the fire. I didn't see who set the fire.”
Jalalabad Police Station OC Md Nazmul Huda Khan said those who called the blockade might have set the bus on fire for sabotage.
