The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved in principle a total of six proposals, prioritising strategic imports and landmark infrastructure projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to secure energy supplies, public health, and national connectivity.
The approvals came from the 9th meeting of the committee held at the Parliament complex with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
According to the Cabinet Division, the proposals from three ministries and divisions were placed and discussed in the meeting, and all were recommended in principle for approval.

The meeting approved a Health Services Division proposal to procure EPI vaccines directly through UNICEF to ensure uninterrupted supply of vaccines at the field level under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The committee also approved two bridge construction projects under PPP initiative proposed by the Bridges Division.
One of the projects is the ‘construction of a bridge over the Meghna River on the Shariatpur-Chandpur road’, while the other is the ‘construction of Bhola Bridge on Barishal-Bhola road over the Kalabador and Tetulia rivers’.
Meanwhile, the committee recommended in principle approval of three proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to import 3 lakh metric tons of diesel to meet the country’s emergency fuel demand amid unstable geopolitical situation following the Middle East tensions.
Under the proposals, one lakh metric tons of EN590 10 PPM diesel will be imported from YAR Energy AG through direct procurement method under international purchase.
Additional one lakh metric tons of 10-50 PPM diesel will be imported from K & R International Trading Company through direct procurement.
Besides, one lakh metric tons of EN590 10 PPM sulfur diesel will be imported from M/S Sikder International through direct procurement.
The emergency fuel import has been approved to ensure uninterrupted energy supply in the country in the context of global geopolitical instability.
