Chattogram, Jan 9 (UNB) –A case has been filed against 177 people, including an Awami League leader and a Jatiya Party leader, following the death of former BCL leader Mohiuddin Sohel who was lynched on Monday by an angry mob at Pahartali railway market of the city on allegation of extortion.
Shakirul Islam Shishir, younger brother of Sohel, filed the case with Double Mooring Police Station early Wednesday accusing 27 named and 150 unnamed people, said Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of the police Station.
Pahartoli AL joint convenor aber Ahmed, also convener of Pahartoli Railway Bazar trader association, has been made prime accused in the case.
Besides, police arrested another accused city Jatiya Party vice president Osman Khan in the afternoon.
On Januray 7, traders of Pahartali railway market lynched Sohel and stabbed to death bringing charge of extortion.
However, his family members at a press briefing on Tuesday claimed that Sohel was murdered in a planned way as he protested drug business and extortion in the market.
