Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Monday paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office at Secretariat.
“It was a farewell meeting,” said Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu).
“During the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman laid emphasis on further expanding trade, investment and development cooperation between the two countries, as well as issues of mutual interest, including the Rohingya crisis,” Hasan Shiplu said.
Ambassador Yao Wen said China’s support for Bangladesh’s development efforts would continue.
He also expressed hope that relations between the two countries would be strengthened further.
The Chinese Ambassador congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his successful participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and various programmes in New York.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Investment Bangladesh Authority Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the meeting.
Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Dr Liu Yuyin accompanied the ambassador.
