In a dedicated effort to restore and protect the city's urban waterways, Footsteps Bangladesh is set to conduct the “Cholo Khal Bachai: Gulshan Lake Cleanup Drive” on Friday.
The comprehensive environmental campaign is supported by the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh and is being implemented in close partnership with the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Gulshan Society, and the National Volunteer Forum.
The day-long event aims to bring attention to the ecological health of Gulshan Lake while actively removing waste from its waters. To achieve this, 500 volunteers will be on the ground throughout the campaign to support the cleanup efforts.
The inauguration ceremony and primary cleanup activities are scheduled to take place on the Hadi Tower premises, located near the Gulshan-2 Lake Bridge.
The drive will run throughout the day, starting at 9:00am.
DNCC Administrator Safiqul Islam Khan, Additional Director General of the Department of Environment Md Ziaul Haque, Gulshan Society President Barrister Omar Sadat, Chief Executive Officer – Bangladesh Operations – at Commercial Bank of Ceylon Najith Meewanage, and co-founder and President of Footsteps Bangladesh Shah Rafayat Chowdhury will attend the programme.
