The Dhaka University unit of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Students' Forum (CHTSF), a traditional organisation representing students from the Chittagong Hill Tracts studying at the university, formed its new executive committee on Thursday.
According to a press release issued in the afternoon, Kamrul Hasan has been elected president, while KH Nowshad has been elected general secretary of the committee.
The 34-member committee also includes Abu Sayeed Ibu as senior vice-president, Abu Asif as vice-president and Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan Nakib as vice-president.
Other office-bearers are Mohammad Arman as senior joint general secretary, Arni Dey and Zahidul Islam as joint general secretaries, Md Imran Habib as organising secretary, Md Abdullah Al Nayeem as office secretary, Nusrat Jahan Tanzila as publicity secretary and Tasim Uddin as finance secretary.
In a joint statement, newly elected President Kamrul Hasan and General Secretary KH Nowshad said the committee's primary goal is to create a safe, friendly and creative environment for students from the Chittagong Hill Tracts at Dhaka University by following the directives of the central committee.
They said the committee would play a leading role in protecting the academic interests and rights of general students on campus.
General members of the organisation and leaders of the central committee congratulated the newly elected committee.
