Bangladesh Coast guard (BCG) arrested two Rohingya people along with 30,000 contraband yaba tablets from Fishery Ghat of Maddhom Nuniya Chhara in Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday night.
The arrestees were identified as Md Nayeem, 20, and Robi Alam, 27.
Acting on a tip off, a team of BCG station Cox’s Bazar conducted a special drive on a wooden boat at Maddhom Nuniya Chhara Fishery Ghat and carried out search at around 8:20 pm, said Lt Shah Zia Rahman, media officer of BCG East Zone.
During the search, the BCG members recovered 30,000 yaba pills and arrested the duo who are Myanmar nationals, he said.
The arrested two Rohingya people along with the yaba tablets consignment and the wooden boat were handed over to the Cox’s Bazar police station.
