A youth died after being pushed off a moving bus by its conductor and helper during an altercation over fare in the Shibbari area of Gazipur on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sayem, 20, son of Abu Sayed of the Awlapara area of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh district. He worked at a workshop in Shibbari upazila.
Eyewitness claimed that an argument broke out between Abu and the helper and the contractor of the bus belonging to ‘Takoya Paribahan’ over fare in the Shibbari area in the morning.
In a fit of rage, the accused pushed Abu off the moving bus that soon ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot, according to the eyewitnesses.
Md Saidul Islam, a sub-inspector at Gazipur sadar police station, said that locals caught bus driver Shafiqul Islam and helper Hira Miah and handed them over to police, while the conductor managed to flee.

The body has been kept in the morgue of a local hospital for an autopsy, he added.
