Field-level police officers have been instructed to perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism to ensure people's access to justice.
The directive was given on the 2nd day of the virtual monthly crime review meeting for May 2026 on Tuesday with Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Khondaker Rafiqul Islam in the chair.
Metropolitan police commissioners, range deputy inspectors general (DIGs) and district superintendents of police (SPs) joined the meeting virtually.
At the Police Headquarters, DIG (Crime Management) Mohammad Abu Sufian, DIG (Operations) Md Rezaul Karim and other senior officials were present.
Additional IGP Rafiqul instructed officers to strengthen supervision over criminal investigations, stressing that cases must be investigated professionally to help ensure speedy justice.
He also directed police personnel to ensure their own safety as well as the protection of government property while conducting operations.
The two-day monthly crime review meeting concluded on Tuesday. On the first day, officials from metropolitan police units and police ranges took part, while the second day was attended by officers from specialised police units.
The meeting reviewed the overall crime situation in May 2026 and discussed the execution of arrest warrants for convicted persons, progress in case investigations, trial outcomes, conviction rates and other recent significant incidents.
