Seven of them are posted at Sadarghat Fire Station and one at Postogola Fire Station, while another is in the headquarters.
Deputy Assistant Director (Media) of fire service headquarters Shahjahan Sikder told UNB that eight firefighters had been kept under institutional quarantine, while the other was in home quarantine.
Replying to a question, he said the firefighters might have been infected during firefighting and rescue operations.
“We’re closely monitoring the infected firefighters. They’ll be shifted to hospital if necessary,” he added.
Bangladesh has so far recorded 9,455 coronavirus cases and 177 deaths.

Considering the worsening situation, the government is about to extend the general holiday again to prevent the transmission of the deadly virus.
People working in the frontline have been infected in large numbers in recent days. In 24 hours until Sunday morning, 113 members of Bangladesh Police were infected with coronavirus.

So far, 854 police personnel have been infected and five of them died, according to the Police Headquarters.
Until Saturday, 540 doctors were infected with coronavirus, said the Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians.
