Thirty-eight people, including the Sadar upazila Chairman and a city corporation councillor, were diagnosed with coronavirus on Wednesday.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Sahadat Hossain said they received the test results earlier in the day.
The new patients include Adarsha Sadar Upazila Chairman Advocate Aminul Islam Tutul, three officials of the upazila parishad, and no 21 ward councillor of Cumilla City Corporation Kazi Mahbubur Rahman.
So far, Cumilla has recorded 711 cases.
Bangladesh on Wednesday announced detection of 1,541 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number to 38,292. During this period, 22 more people died from coronavirus, raising the death tally to 544.
