The government on Monday announced general holidays for 'red zones' (areas with most coronavirus patients) in some areas of five more districts in a bid to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus.
A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the public administration ministry.
The districts are -- Faridpur, Manikganj, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi and Kushtia.
All job holders residing in red zones will enjoy holidays.
In Faridpur, all wards of Bhanga municipality were marked as ‘red zone’ by the health authorities and the holidays in the areas will come into effect from June 23 till July 7.
In Manikganj, the authorities concerned have declared general holidays at Uttar Seuta, Gangadhar Patti, Paschim Dashra under Manikganj municipality, Saturaia union and Dhankora union in Saturia upazila and Singair municipality and Joymantap union in Singair upazila. The restriction will come into effect from June 23 and will continue till July 4.
In Brahmanbaria, general holidays were declared for Paikpara and Kalaisripara of No 4 ward, Madhyapara under No 5 ward and Kazipara under No 8 ward of Brahmanbaria municipality, Haspatalpara and Paschimpara under No 2 ward, TNT para under Ward no3, Haspatalpara and College Para of no 4 ward , Bholachang Daspara under no 8 ward of Nabinagar municipality, Araibari of No 4 ward, Shitalpara of No 5 ward and Sahapara of no 7 ward of Kasba municipality, areas from Tuesday and it will continue till July 4.
In Narsingdi, no 4, 5 wards of Madhabdi municipality were declared as red zone in the district and general holidays will be effective from June 23 to July 2.
In Kushtia, general holidays will be effective on No 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 18 and 20 of Kushtia municipality, Bahirchar and chandgram union of Bheramara and no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 wards of Bheramara municipality areas from June 23 till July 7.
