The attendees in the meeting were from Khilkhet and Jamtala areas of the city, where DAM has been running the TB Control Program in order to create awareness among people about living with TB.
DAM’s Assistant Director Md Mukhlesur Rahman presided over the meeting while Md Shahadat Khan, Accounts Officer, and Dr. Fatema Khan, M&E Officer of the TB Control Program sponsored by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM), took part in the discussions.
Shahadat Khan talked about DAM activities in the field and Fatema Khan in her speech discussed TB, TB categories, transmission, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment regimen, DOTS services, side effects of TB medicines and management issues. She also answered different questions of the participants and emphasized sputum examination for presence of signs and symptoms of TB.
Speakers also discussed the Practical Approach to Lung Health (PAL), relationship between TB and tobacco usage, IPT treatment and government initiatives on TB control.
