At Ashrafabad of Kamrangirchar, dozens of small -and medium-sized candle factories are now operating day and night to meet the rising demand. Workers remain busy throughout the day, pouring wax, fitting wicks, and packing finished candles as orders continue to pile up.
With electricity supply becoming irregular in several parts of the country, many households and small businesses are increasingly relying on candles to cope with sudden darkness during load shedding.
Factory owners say production goes up during the hot season compared to normal times, with workers often taking shifts to keep up with demand.
Workers, mostly from low-income backgrounds, say the increased workload has also brought more earning opportunities, though the pressure of continuous production has intensified.
