Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) has expressed deep grief at the death of Additional Foreign Secretary Ferdousi Shahriar.
DCAB President AKM Moinuddin and General Secretary Emrul Kayesh, in a condolence message on Wednesday, recalled her contributions to Bangladesh's diplomacy and her dedicated role in promoting the country's interests abroad throughout her diplomatic career.
They prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Ferdousi Shahriar died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital at the age of 54.
Ferdousi Shahriar joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Assistant Secretary on January 25, 1999.
During her career, she served at several Bangladesh missions abroad, including in Bangkok, Rome, Manchester and Washington, D.C.
Ferdousi Shahriar last served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Singapore.
She is survived by her husband, three children and many well-wishers.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and officials and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow at her death.
They prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
