Dengue cases are on the rise across Bangladesh, including in the capital, putting increasing pressure on hospitals and healthcare facilities.
At Mugda Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday (Sept 9), dengue patients were seen seeking treatment amid a growing influx of cases.
With the number of patients increasing, the hospital is facing mounting pressure to provide treatment. Due to a shortage of beds, many patients were seen receiving treatment on the hospital floor.
Bangladesh recorded its highest number of dengue deaths in a single day this year on Tuesday, with nine people succumbing to the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours.
The latest fatalities pushed the nationwide death toll to 130 since January 1, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
