He was speaking as the chief guest at an online workshop organised by Bangladesh Tourism Board with Meherpur district today aiming to involve tourism in local development plans and raising public awareness about tourism.
He said that development work is underway in the vicinity of the Liberation War Complex in Mujibnagar to ensure various facilities for tourists.
The district administration is implementing this work with the funding of Bangladesh Tourism Board. “We also plan to hire trained guides to highlight the historical significance of Mujibnagar to tourists,” he said.

Mahbub said that at the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, work is underway to formulate a tourism master plan to find out the tourism potential, problems and ways of overcoming them in every region of the country.
An overall idea about the development of the country's tourism industry can be obtained at the end of formulation of this master plan.
According to the master plan, everything will be done for the development of tourism in the entire Meherpur district including Mujibnagar.
