Dhaka to host 2nd South Asia Maritime Forum in October  


Dhaka, Aug 30 (UNB) – Second South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum (SAMLF) 2018 will be held at the Hotel Le Meridian on October 9 and 10.

The SAMLF will be held under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Shipping of Bangladesh in association with the Gateway Media (Pvt) Ltd of India and Colombo International Maritime Conference Event (CIMC) of Sri Lanka.

An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the secretariat here on Thursday led by Secretary Abdus Samad of the ministry to hold the forum successfully.

The secretary said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the programme on October 9 as chief guest and Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan will preside over the programme. 

Minister, secretary and higher officials of shipping sector related trade and industry of 20 countries including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal will attend the programme.

Development and possible investment in shipping sector, solution of barriers in regional trade, ship building including dredging and others related to the sector will be discussed in the two-day forum.
