Dialogue on UN’s relevance for Bangladesh in city Saturday

Dhaka, Sept 6 (UNB) - A distinguished panel of international and local experts is set to gather at a symposium here on Saturday to shed light on current major global problems, particularly the protracted Rohingya crisis as well as the need for a greater coordinated approach from within the UN system itself, to address international peace and security issues.
Cosmos Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bangladeshi conglomerate Cosmos Group, will organise the symposium titled “The Relevance of the United Nations for Bangladesh: A Prognosis for Partnership” at Lakeshore Hotel in the city at 10 am.
Former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Lord George Mark Malloch Brown, KCMG, PC will deliver the keynote speech, while Planning Minister MA Mannan, MP, and Founder of Brac Sir Fazle Hasan Abed will be present at the event as special guests.
The symposium will be chaired and conducted by Principal Research Fellow of the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore, Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and Chairman of Cosmos Foundation Enayetullah Khan.
The symposium will be part of the Cosmos Dialogue Distinguished Speaker’s Lecture Series in which the panel of renowned experts will be tasked with keeping the discussion insightful and relevant, before the floor is opened up to the participation of an informed and engaged audience.
