A PRAN company distribution employee was killed after being hit by a speeding locally made motorised vehicle, known as “Algamon”, in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Thursday night.
The deceased, Jahurul Islam, 45, was the son of late Fora Mondal of Natun Amdah village in the upazila. He worked at a PRAN company distribution centre in the Allardarga area.
Witnesses said Jahurul was walking towards Allardarga Bazar after collecting outstanding payments for the company from Kalyanpur Bottola Bazar.
When he reached the Chamnai area around 8:30pm, an Algamon loaded with green chillies hit him from behind on the Kushtia-Pragpur highway while travelling from Taragunia towards Bheramara.
The impact threw Jahurul onto the road, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and were taking him to Bismillah Clinic at Allardarga Bazar, but he died on the way.
Officer-in-Charge of Daulatpur Police Station Khaledur Rahman said they were taking necessary legal action in this regard.
