Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Monday directed all police personnel to properly discharge their assigned responsibilities to prevent crime and maintain law and order in the capital city.

The DMP's top officer gave the instructions at the monthly crime review meeting for August 2026 held at the DMP Headquarters conference room on Monday.

The commissioner directed the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, Detective Branch (DB) and police stations to work in coordination to prevent crime.

He also instructed police to divide areas for duty coverage so that no security gap or shortage of deployment exists in any area.

Emphasising regular collection and preservation of guest lists from residential and other hotels, Mosleh Uddin said an effective system must be put in place to collect guest information from hotels and ensure that the information can be obtained quickly when needed.

He further directed police to strengthen security measures, including block checks, at entry points to the capital and other important areas to prevent criminals from different parts of the country from coming to Dhaka to commit crimes.

He instructed police to take necessary legal action against suspicious individuals and control their movements before they can commit crimes.

The commissioner also stressed collecting, analysing and immediately utilising intelligence to control crime.

At the monthly crime review meeting, the DMP commissioner awarded police officers of different ranks in various categories in recognition of their good performance in maintaining law and order, controlling crime and ensuring public safety in Dhaka during August.

Police officers ranking from assistant commissioners (AC). officers-in-charge of all DMP police stations and police officers of different ranks also attended the meeting.
