Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 1,463 cases against motorists for violating traffic rules during drives conducted in different parts of the capital in 24 hours till Wednesday.
During the drives, DMP filed 81 cases in the Ramna zone, 143 in the Lalbagh zone, 98 in the Motijheel zone, 425 in the Wari zone, 144 in the Tejgaon zone, 201 in the Mirpur zone, 203 in the Uttara zone and 168 in the Gulshan zone, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Niaz Mehedi said on Thursday.
Besides, a total of 457 vehicles were impounded and 252 others were towed away during the drives.
The DMP Traffic Division will continue such drives to maintain discipline on Dhaka's roads, he said.
