A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a suspected drug dealer with 4,000 pieces of yaba tablets from the Jatrabari area of the capital on Friday.
The arrestee has been identified as Md Zainal Abedin, 36.

Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP Talebur Rahman said, acting on a tip-off, a team from the Illegal Arms Recovery and Narcotics Control Team of (DB- Gulshan Division) conducted a drive in the Matuail area under Jatrabari police station around 6:55 am on Friday. Zainal was detained in front of Quality Timber and Saw Mill on the Dhaka-bound lane of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
During the drive, DB recovered 4,000 yaba pills from his possession, he said .
DB officials said Zainal is a professional drug dealer and had been involved in collecting and distributing yaba tablets in various areas of Dhaka, including Jatrabari, for a long time.
Legal proceedings against him are underway.
