Students of Dhaka University belonging to the families of 'tea-workers' staged a candle-procession at the campus demanding to raise the wage of tea workers.
The procession was formed at the foot of anti-terrorist Raju monument of the Dhaka University around 7:45 pm on Sunday.
During the procession they demanded to increase the daily wage of tea workers to Tk 300 from Tk 120.
"Today, we, the children of tea workers, came here for our rights. It is very inhuman that tea garden owners pay only Tk 120 to the tea workers. The wage is too low to meet our urgent needs and must be increased to taka 300," one of the protesters said.
Later they marched toward Central Shaheed Minar with candles and concluded the procession there.
