Dhaka University students, led by Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), brought out a protest rally on Wednesday around 9pm against the ‘conspiracies of the fallen Awami League to destabilise the state’.
Students from the residential halls along with the hall union leaders started gathering before the DUCSU building from 8pm.
The rally was started from there at 9.30pm and circled the whole campus chanting slogans like - ‘League dhor, jele bhor’ (Catch League, Put them in Jail); ‘hoi hoi roi roi, Awami-jubo-chhatra League geli koi’ (Where are you, Awami-Chhatra-Jubo League); ‘Fyasibader thikana, ei Banglay hobe ba’ (No Fascist will have a place in Bangla), among others.
All DUCSU leaders attended the procession. Female hall unions’ leaders along with female students also were present.
They called for the elimination of banned and expelled Chhatra League ‘terrorists’ and the uprooting of fascist forces, and also urged all students to unite against the anti-national Awami League miscreants.
Speakers at the rally warned those who are trying to rehabilitate Awami League.
DUCSU vice president (vp) Shadik Kayem said, “Awami League is not a political party; it is a terrorist organization.”
He said, “We want to know what actions the government has taken against those who were booster in genocide, enforced disappearances, murders, and the Aynaghar. Every collaborator of fascism will be brought to justice in this independent Bangladesh.”
He called for resistance to be built wherever collaborators of Awami fascism are found.
Giving a warning, Shadik said, “Those who are trying to take responsibility for bringing back the Awami League; whether they are a political party or any organization; be careful.”
