A case has been filed against a 75 years old man as he allegedly tried to rape a girl aged 5 in Tengrakhali village of Kachua upazila.
The accused was identified as Yakub Hazra, a resident of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station Md Shafikul Islam said Yakub took the girl to his house promising to give her chocolate on Monday afternoon where he tried to violate her.
Later, locals rushed to the spot after hearing the victim’s screams but Yakub managed to flee, the OC said. The girl was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
Victim’s father filed a case over the matter on Tuesday, he added.
